Location:
Westside Lodge is named for its location on Westside Road in the Russian River Valley, home to some of the best wineries in the country. Enjoy biking or driving through miles of vineyards to visit Armida, Belvedere, Hop Kiln, Porter Creek, Gary Farrell, Rochioli, and dozens more. Continue on Westside Road to end up in the heart of Healdsburg, where you'll find some of Sonoma County's finest restaurants and shopping, or continue into Dry Creek Valley. The neighborhood beach at the Hacienda Bridge and public Mother's Beach on the east side of the bridge are each an easy walk. Burke's canoe rentals and Berry's Market are close by. Guerneville's restaurants, shopping and nightlife are about five miles west; the Pacific Ocean is 15 miles west. On the way to Guerneville, Korbel offers champagne tasting and a fabulous deli. Santa Rosa and Sebastopol are each a fifteen minute drive.
House:
Built in 1936, Westside Lodge is a restored vintage, pre-craftsman home with wood paneling and fir floors, styled with quality furnishings throughout. Sleeping eight, this home has great views of the surrounding forest and the Russian River from most rooms and both porches. On the main floor, the spacious living room features a floor-to-ceiling rock fireplace, queen sleeper couch, and 50" HD TV with DVR, and opens to a porch, overlooking the river, with dining set and additional seating. The well-equipped kitchen opens to a formal dining room with a large farmhouse table, and opens to the front porch with a Weber gas grill. There's a half bath also on this floor. Stay connected with wireless high-speed Internet access.
On the lower level, there are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master suite is furnished with a king bed, 19" LCD TV with DVD player, and has its own bathroom with tub/shower. Two additional bedrooms each have queen beds and share a large bathroom with enormous, tiled double shower. The central hallway leads to a second covered porch with outdoor seating, a large daybed, and more fantastic river views.
Grounds:
This riverfront home is perched on a forested hillside and has great views of the river and surrounding forest, as well as its own river access. There's a set of stairs down from the road to the front door. Long, but safe and gradual, stairs hug the building and head down to a beautifully landscaped, tree-covered path which leads directly to private river access where there are three single kayaks.
