Row row row your boat....

End of the day at Monte Rio Beach and here comes a rowboat, gently down the stream.

The Answer to No-Snow Tahoe!
We're getting more and more calls from folks who planned to spend the holidays at Tahoe, thinking there would be snow and they would be skiing or snow-boarding or whatever the folks who like snow do. And they are looking for an alternative because they say there is absolutely nothing to do in the winter in Tahoe without snow.
Well, we have plenty to do, starting with soaking in your private hot tub, going wine-tasting, hiking, eating at Michelin-rated restaurants, shopping, hanging out at our wine bars, and dancing at the River Theater. Of course, if all you want to do is sit in front of the fireplace, you can do that either place. But it's nice to have some alternatives without feeling bad there is no snow. Here there will be no snow, can't feel bad about it! We're having sun, sun, and more sun, with nippy mornings and glorious afternoons.

Russian River Getaways Holiday Staff Party
Sunday evening Russian River Getaways employees enjoyed their annual holiday party at Buck's, complete with a professional D.J. for karaoke. Always amazing how so many people say they can't sing and would never do karaoke and then when the time comes they are up their singing "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" and "Pina Coladas." Lots of fun and one stand-out singer, a friend of an employee named Heather. If she sings somewhere professionally in this area, I'll be there----she did "At Last" in honor of Etta James and it was a wow rendition. She's the one on the left in the photo. Turns out she is also a painter, so I'll check out her paintings as well.

Jam, thank you ma'am
Yesterday I stopped at the Monte Rio Community Center Holiday Crafts Show and picked up two jars of marmalade and one jar of fig jam, locally gathered fruit (including Meyer Lemon) and locally made. Both are delicious (I tasted the samples at the booth) and now I have to decide whether to keep them or give them as holiday gifts. Hmmmmmm.

Our sunny areas are just sunny enough for citrus and figs, another blessing bestowed by nature upon our beautiful Russian River region.
