Had a spa pedicure and manicure at Creations today---that's the really cute Victorian building on Armstrong Woods Road next to Coffee Bazaar. The space is beautiful (the contractor was one of Russian River Getaways' property owners who is responsible for the spectacular Villa Habana), the services were great, and I am very happy with my gold toe nails and pearlescent pink finger nails. They provide a really wide range of services and I'll be back. This was a birthday gift from my daughter, but I'll go on my own dime in the future. Really worth it and very relaxing, paraffin wax and all.

What a treat: Guerneville is not only a foodie and wine destination, it's now an art destination. The First Friday Art Walk was fantastic--receptions at many galleries, art showings at restaurants and other locations, street musicians, and I bought two gorgeous, surprisingly inexpensive, necklaces from John Rizzo, an incredible glass artist on 3rd Street. Had a hard time not buying a $1,000 marble sculpture from Karen Ryer at Withywindle Gallery---her work is simply spectacular. Can't wait for the next Art Walk. Lots of people participated and seemed to be having a great time. We ended up at the White Tail Wine Bar for great wine and appetizers. Thrilled with the success of the event and glad to see artists gathering and supporting this event, with the public wandering the streets in awe. This is a huge leap forward for Guerneville!

Just can't help myself. The roses are so beautiful. Deadheading after taking the dogs to the beach. The river was running very fast for this time of year---wouldn't want to have to paddle upstream. But the river is also very low and will get lower until the dams go in the middle of June. Lots of happy humans and dogs on the beach this weekend. All the Russian River Getaways homes booked. The season is upon us![ add comment ] ( 1 view ) | permalink |

What a perfect day, touring gardens and homes in west Sonoma County. Everything was just beautiful and my brain is working overtime from all the ideas. This is something I look forward to every year---the 17th year, to be exact. I would like to get something going like this at the river--as a benefit for Stewards of the Coast and the Redwoods--but it takes a lot of organization and someone would have to step up.

Here's a photo of my collection of four Karen Ryer sculptures, surrounded by roses in my garden. This is her early work which I bought when it was very inexpensive. Now her work is magnificent and brings the prices it deserves. I love to go into her gallery---Withywindle Gallery---on Main Street in Guerneville to see what she's doing. Would love to add to my collection, but we'll see. Too hard to choose....
