When I was a kid a thousand years ago in the mid-west, playing the accordion was as popular and ordinary as playing the piano. Somehow accordions disappeared from my life except in the Zydeco bands---and Zydeco is one of my favorite kinds of music. For whatever reason, the accordion stays alive and well in Cotati and every year, for 22 years now, accordion players descend on this tiny town. With 30 performances, including Zydeco, Tex-Mex, rock, country, and punk, this will be a very lively affair this year. Check it out August 18 & 19 at LaPlaza Park.
