Oils and Vinegars at Whitetail Wine Bar
Just wanted to mention that most of the delectable oils and vinegars served at Whitetail Wine Bar are made by Via Giusti, served with a Nightingale baguette from Forestville. The Via Giusti products are strawberry balsamic vinegar, mushroom sage oil, blood orange olive oil, chocolate balsamic vinegar, and basil garlic olive oil. Hard to pick a favorite, but I'd probably go for the blood orange. The Wine Bar also serves black truffle oil, mediterranean herb oil, and a couple of classics. Can't wait to go back....

Whitetail Winebar

Josette, the Russian River Getaways Concierge, and I met at WhiteTail WineBar at 4 p.m. today for their special tasting---three excellent wines at $3 per glass and we also ordered a superb bread, dipping oil, and dipping vinegar platter. Beautiful, tranquil atmosphere (the owner is an interior designer) with comfy couches as well as bar seating. This is a great addition to Guerneville's Main Street and we hope this business gets great local support, in addition to the service for visitors---there is nothing else like this anywhere in our area. Wines are for sale, but there's no pressure to buy. We're going to try to work out a way for our guests to have private group tastings; keep posted.

Downtown Guerneville Stroll

Had a business meeting at Coffee Bazaar and decided to stroll down Main Street to check out the new businesses. Couldn't resist this fun photo of the window at King's Sport & Tackle. Ended up chatting with the new owner and her manager at WhiteTail Wine Bar. I'll be heading back down there at 4 p.m. for their Thursday 3 for 3 special wine-tasting. Sunset Magazine is coming to town then to report on the downtown Guerneville Renaissance. Hope they ask me my opinon as I have plenty to say about how thrilled we are with the new businesses! I'll report this evening on WhiteTail---how fabulous is it that we finally have wine-tasting right in Guerneville?

Guerneville Taco Truck

Got my carnitas burrito at the Guerneville Taco Truck today---yum, especially for those few of us trying to maintain/gain weight. Calories aside, this taco truck is the best in Sonoma County. It's owned by the same fellow who owns La Tapatia, a Mexican restaurant, and River Inn, an American food restaurant, in Guerneville, and he knows how to do it right. The extra large is enough for two meals and the prices are right. $6 for a large, $8.25 for the enormous extra large. There's always a crowd there, but the service is fast so there's never a long wait. Lucky for me, the truck is located in the Safeway parking lot, just half a block from the Russian River Getaways office.

Fishing in the Russian River
This Labor Day weekend, fishing in the Russian River does not require a fishing license. My neighbors who fish have been having great success catching largemouth and smallmouth bass. I have a fishing rod somewhere, thinking of heading down to the river myself to try my luck. My neighbors throw the fish back, but those bass should be good eating.
