Our listings include prices by the day and week (seventh night is free) and do not include the following charges:

1. Add the 9% Sonoma County hotel tax plus 2% Business Improvement area tax
2. Add the one-time mandatory cleaning/linens fee, listed at the bottom of each house webpage.

Houses have assigned rotation days in July and August (we use every day except Tuesday), but some homes are noted as Variable. For those homes, we generally can accommodate whatever turn date you want except Friday. Bookings of less than a week in the summer are sometimes available, generally last minute. But if the availability calendar shows a short open block, then call to book. Sometimes owner blocks create short openings well in advance.

.....Winter Discounts: All homes are three nights for the price of two in January, February and March, except President's Day weekend; 25% discount on bookings of four nights or more. President's Day weekend is a three night minimum at full price. For on-line bookings, discounts will not be reflected in the online confirmation, but will be applied when we email the booking agreement.

.....Summer Turn Days | top
In general, Russian River vacation rentals have a one week minimum in the summer. All of our homes have this one week minimum in July and August unless an owner block creates a short booking or a home is still available a week or two in advance. If a short booking appears on the availability calendar you cannot book online---just call the Russian River Getaways office to book.

Most homes have set turn days; all check-ins and check-outs will occur on that day in the summer. There are no early check-ins any time of year, since our homes are transitioning to keyless entry and entry codes will not be effective until 3 p.m. Late check-outs are possible only off-season for a small additional charge; there are never late check-outs in the summer as almost all of our bookings are back to back. Some of the houses will begin their one week minimums the end of June if the last days of the week are in July.

In the summer, most homes have to be booked in seven day increments---no ten day bookings encompassing two weekends, for instance. We sometimes make exceptions for non-riverfront homes, so it doesn't hurt to ask, but our online booking allows only seven day increments.

All our homes are completely furnished, with full kitchens, and come equipped with cooking utensils, dishes, linens, blankets, pillows, towels, television, stereo, telephone, and barbecue. With the exception of Sanctuaire, our homes are within a 15 minute drive of downtown Guerneville. For more details on what our homes offer, please see our booking policies.

We have only one home that is fully wheelchair accessible: Grandma's House. We do have homes that are fairly level-in, but none have ramps and most of the bathrooms and bedrooms are too small for a wheelchair to manuever easily. Our staff is not able to determine whether a particular home would be suitable enough for a guest in a wheelchair and we urge you to visit homes in advance to make this determination. We cannot give refunds or generally move you to another house because of this issue. This is an issue we would like to be able to address better in the future, but unless owners are willing to provide ADA-compliant homes we are not in a position to make representations about wheelchair accessibility.

Guerneville is the main town in the Russian River area of west Sonoma County, 15 miles west of Santa Rosa, 70 miles north of San Francisco, in Northern California. Monte Rio is 4 miles west of Guerneville, Duncans Mills and Cazadero are around 8 - 9 miles west of Guerneville. Forestville is 7 miles east of Guerneville.

Some helpful tips:

• Forestville is most convenient to wineries, Sebastopol, and Santa Rosa, followed by Guerneville and Monte Rio

• There is little difference in temperature between Guerneville and central Monte Rio. Forestville will be slightly warmer, while Duncans Mills and Cazadero will be slightly cooler. There is no air-conditioning here (with a few exceptions): the ocean breezes provide natural cooling at night and homes in warmer areas have fans.

• The Northwood golf course area is 2 - 3 miles west of Guerneville and, although this is technically Monte Rio, these homes are as close to Guerneville as they are to central Monte Rio.

• Duncans Mills is close to the ocean, with some marine influence, yet still enjoys warm, sunny days in the summer.

• Cazadero is redwood forest, with an all-year creek running through it; in general the most secluded homes will be found here.

• Jenner is located 15 miles west of Guerneville, where the Russian River meets the Pacific Ocean, and has a coastal climate with frequent morning fog. The climate here is cooler than in the other river towns, with substantial marine influence. The homes are mountainside, with views of both the river and the ocean. Jenner is less than a five minute drive to Goat Rock State Park Beach and 10 miles north of Bodega Bay.

• Homes along the river are generally not as private as the homes along the creeks or in the forest, although there are exceptions. The river homes are rarely fenced and most will have some degree of road noise since River Road, running along the river, is the main artery for the area. We do have some river homes free of all road noise. If this is a major issue for you, please ask us. The Russian River is a navigable river and by federal law everything below the high watermark is public access. This means that if people can reach a beach without trespassing through private property, e.g. by boat or public easement, they can use that beach even though it is technically on private property.

• There are a 24-hour Safeway and a health food store in Guerneville and smaller markets in Forestville and Monte Rio, as well as a general store in Cazadero. On Hwy 116 in Sebastopol, Fiesta Market and Andy's Market further north are worth a stop. Speer's Market, just off River Road in Forestville, is one of the few local markets to carry Harris Ranch beef and fresh fish/seafood. There are video rentals in all towns except Duncans Mills. Guerneville has bicycle rentals.

• The best shopping is in Guerneville and Duncans Mills; there are also numerous antique stores in Sebastopol.

• Boat rentals are available in Guerneville, Monte Rio, and Duncans Mills and some of our homes include boats. Homes that have boats generally have two adult and two child life vests; additional vests can be purchased at King's Sport & Tackle in Guerneville. Boating depends upon unpredictable river and weather conditions and many homes with boats have seasonal docks which are generally not available until Memorial Day weekend or later. Some homes are dependent upon the placement of the summer dams for their docks to be useable and the installation of the summer dams varies greatly from year to year. Homes with beach access will generally have a longer season for river access; at these homes kayaking is sometimes safe as early as mid-April. In general, we cannot guarantee boating will be possible or safe anytime other than mid-June through mid-September.
